Load takedown on a column
Add up the permanent and imposed loads coming down a column, with load reduction, and get Nser and Nu to size the column and its footing.
What the sheet calculates
- Permanent load added up over the storeys carried, including the column's self-weight
- Imposed load added up with reduction factors
- Service axial load Nser = G + Q
- Ultimate axial load Nu = 1.35G + 1.5Q
Worked example
Calculated by the BÉTONIQ PRO engine with the inputs below. It is the same working as in the software and in the Word calculation report.
The calculation output is in French, as in the software.

Détail du calcul · BAEL
| N° | Étape | Valeur | Unité |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Charge permanente cumulée (2 niv.) | 169 | kN |
| 2 | Coefficient de dégression cumulé Σα (2 niv.) | 2 | au lieu de 2 |
| 3 | Charge d’exploitation cumulée (dégressée) | 48 | kN |
| 4 | Nser = G+Q | 0,217 | MN |
| 5 | Nu = 1,35G + 1,5Q | 0,301 | MN |
