How the calculations are checked

A structural design tool is only worth something if you can check its results. Here is how BÉTONIQ PRO is verified, what it shows of each calculation and what it does not do for you.

An engine checked against reference spreadsheets

The engine is checked against reference Excel workbooks. Its regression test currently runs 2,185 numerical checks, each with its own tolerance, and passes with no failures.

The test is run again after every sheet is added or changed: a fix cannot break another sheet without it showing.

Every result shows its working

No result comes alone. Each sheet shows the calculation step by step, with the formulas, the intermediate values and the code clauses applied (for example BAEL A.5.1.23 for stirrup spacing).

Checks are marked as passing or failing, and warnings flag what remains to be verified: deflection, anchorage, eccentricity. The Word calculation report uses exactly the same layout.

Codes and methods covered

The 289 sheets are based on the following codes and methods:

  • BAEL 91
  • Eurocode 2
  • Eurocode 3
  • Eurocode 1
  • RPA
  • CM66
  • Fascicule 62 titre V
  • DTU 13.12

What the tool does not do for you

BÉTONIQ PRO assists the engineer; it does not replace them. Pre-sizing results are indicative and must be validated by an approved design office, especially for geotechnical works and in seismic zones. The software says so on every result concerned.

Responsibility for the design remains with the professional who signs the calculation report (terms of use, article 6, in French).
